Tenders invited for tenancy of lots in EcoPark
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is now inviting parties with relevant experience and expertise to submit tenders for the tenancy of lots in EcoPark in Tuen Mun Area 38.
Successful tenderers are required to carry out recycling activities of designated waste type within the EcoPark.
They include recycling operation of waste plastics, waste vehicle tyres, waste wood, plaster, glass and other building materials, etc.
"The 20-hectare EcoPark is one of the key elements of Hong Kong's waste management strategy to promote the local recycling and environmental industry, a spokesman for the EPD said today (December 29).
"The objective of setting up the EcoPark is to facilitate the development of recycling and environmental industry with land equipped with basic infrastructure and at affordable rental. This can encourage the industry to put more investment in advanced and value-added recycling processes."
"To ensure that the development of the EcoPark can achieve our policy objectives and meet the market's needs, EPD conducted an Expression of Interest (EoI) exercise in March 2006 to solicit market feedback. An EcoPark Advisory Committee (EAC) with representatives from chambers of commerce and professional and trade bodies was formed in December 2006 to advise the Government on the development of the EcoPark. We have taken into consideration the views received from the EoI exercise and the comments of EAC members in preparing the tenancy terms for the present tender exercise," the spokesman said.
To signify another milestone in realising the EcoPark project, the Director of Environmental Protection, Ms Anissa Wong Sean-yee; today signed a management contract on behalf of the Government with Serco Guardian Joint Venture for providing management service for the EcoPark. The company will manage and maintain common infrastructure and facilities in EcoPark and monitor the daily operation of tenants in accordance with the tenancy requirements.
Tender documents and further information are available during office hours from EPD's EcoPark Group at Room 4021, 40th Floor, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai.
Submissions should be addressed to the Chairman, Tender Opening Committee, Government Logistics Department, and placed in the Government Logistics Department Tender Box, situated on the Ground Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point before noon on January 26, 2007 (Friday).
