Three tenancies in EcoPark awarded
The Director of Environmental Protection, Ms Anissa Wong Sean-yee, today (May 7) signed tenancy agreements with the successful bidders of the three lots in the first batch of the EcoPark Phase I in Tuen Mun Area 38 on behalf of the Government.
The successful bidders are Hong Kong Telford Envirotech Group Limited, Jets Technics Limited and Hong Kong Hung Wai Wooden Board Company.
Under the respective agreements, the tenants will set up the necessary plant and equipment to process locally collected waste plastics, waste vehicle tyres and waste wood into value-added products over a 10-year tenancy period.
"The tenancy award signifies a milestone in the development of the EcoPark, which is one of the Government's key initiatives for supporting the local environmental industry as stipulated in the document 'A Policy Framework for the Management of Municipal Solid Waste (2005-2014)', Ms Wong said.
"The EcoPark provides long-term land at affordable rent and equipped with ready land and marine access, electrical and water supplies, sewerage and telecommunication connections, etc to facilitate and encourage the environmental industry to invest in advanced and cost effective technologies to process local recyclable materials.
"By encouraging and promoting the re-use, recovery and recycling of our waste resources and returning them back to the consumption loop, the EcoPark will help to develop a circular economy within Hong Kong," Ms Wong said.
