Background Noise Levels

Background noise levels of the Extension Site are typical of a general rural environment and there are limited numbers of vehicles or noisy plant items operating during evening and night-time periods. The major existing noise sources are:

	General noise from the existing SENT Landfill
	Tseung Kwan O Industrial estate
	Traffic noise in the vicinity

The Study Area for the noise impact assessment covered a distance of 300m from the roads with traffic generated by the Extension. Background noise measurements were conducted at the Study Area and the prevailing noise levels were 60 dB(A) Leq, 30min and 55 dB(A) Leq, 30min during day-time and night-time respectively.

Noise Sensitive Receivers

Noise Sensitive Receivers (NSRs) of this Project are identified for the assessment.
