MITIGATION MEASURES
Construction / Restoration Phase
While adverse noise impact is not expected during the construction phase of the Extension, good site practices should be implemented by the Contractor to minimise the construction noise impact:
Use of well-maintained plants on-sites |
Use of silencers or mufflers on construction equipment during the construction |
Mobile plants, if any, should be sited as far from NSRs as possible |
Shut down machines and plants that may be in intermittent use |
Direct the orientation of strong noise emitting plant away from nearby NSRs |
Use of material stockpiles and other structures to screen noise from on-site construction activities |
Operational Phase
It is recommended that the following measures be implemented as far as practicable:
Use of quieter PMEs
Use of quieter equipment
Consider noise levels specification when ordering new plant items |
Locate fixed plant items or noise emission points away from the NSRs as far as practicable |
Develop and implement a regularly scheduled plant maintenance programme so that plant items are properly operated and serviced |
