In accordance with the EM&A Manual, all measures undertaken by both
the Contractor and Landscape Contractor during the construction phase and first
year of the operation phase were required to be audited by a Registered
Landscape Architect, as a member of the ET, on a regular basis to ensure
compliance with the intended aims of the measures.
5.2
As required in the EM&A Manual, a competent landscape architect was
required to be employed by the Contractor for the implementation of landscape
construction works and subsequent maintenance operations during the 12 months
establishment period.
5.3
The revised Baseline Air Quality, Noise, Landscape and Visual Monitoring
Report (Rev.1) had been submitted to the EPD, ER, IC(E)
and the Contractor in May 2003. No further comment was received up to this
reporting period.
5.4
In the reporting month, landscape and visual site audits were conducted for
twice on 15 and 26 September 2006 respectively. Table 5.1 summarises the
observations, recommendations, corrective actions and outstanding issues.
5.5
No retained tree was improperly felled. However, 2 retained trees
outside Rhine Terrace were suspected to be dead after demolition of rock fall
fence outside Rhine Terrace. The Contractor was requested to provide remedial
measures for these 2 suspected dead trees. 1 retained tree outside Ting Kau Villa felled during the rainstorm on 1 June 2006.
5.6
In the reporting month, one broken branch was found on a tree outside
Rhine Terrace.
5.7
In the reporting month, permanent hydroseeding
on Slope 17, RW90 and CC14 were properly maintained, except those on Slopes 13,
16, 18 and BPRW37. The Contractor was requested to re-apply hydroseeding
to these areas after completion of slope work.
5.8
Most of the active working slopes adjacent to the public roads were
properly separated by rock fall fence in the reporting month. Permanent hydroseed
was applied to one permanent slope above Ting Kau Nullah, whereas exposed slope surface at

planting, plant supply and establishment works aspects.
