5.1
Site inspection was carried out on a weekly basis to monitor
the timely implementation of proper environmental pollution control and
mitigation measures for the Project. In the month, four site inspections were
carried out. The summary of weekly environmental site inspections observations
and environmental site inspection checklists are attached in Appendix H
Review of
Environmental Monitoring Procedures
5.2
The monitoring works conducted by the Environmental Team
were inspected regularly. Observations have been recorded for the monitoring
works as follows:
Air Quality
Monitoring
·
The
monitoring team recorded the observations around the monitoring stations within
and outside of the construction site.
·
The
monitoring team recorded the temperature and general weather condition on the
monitoring day.
Noise Monitoring
·
The
monitoring team recorded the observations around the monitoring stations, which
might affect the results.
·
Major
noise sources were identified and recorded.
Advice on
Waste Management Status
5.3
The actual quantities of uncontaminated sediment,
contaminated sediment, inert C&D materials and C&D wastes generated by
activities of the Project in the month are provided in Table 5.1. Trip ticket
system was implemented for all offsite waste disposal.

5.6
During the weekly site inspection conducted by the
Environmental Team in the month, the following observations and recommendations
were made.
Resource Management
·
No
observations and recommendations were made during the weekly site inspections
in the month.
Material
Storage/Spillage/Leakage
·
Oil
stain was found next to a generator set at Grid 5 Westbound on deck. The
Contractor was reminded to remove the oil stain.
·
One
drip tray at Grid 9 was found filled with oily water. The Contractor was
reminded to remove the oily water and dispose of as chemical waste.
Waste Management
·
Accumulated
general refuse was found in viaduct in between Grid 7 to Grid 8. Eastbound and
untidy condition was found at C143 and C184. The Contractor was reminded to
improve housekeeping on site.
Water Pollution
·
Stagnant
water was found in catchpit at TTA3, rubbish was
found in the u-channel at TTA3 and mud was found in the u-channel of Siu Lam roundabout. The Contractor was reminded to properly
maintain the drainage system.
·
Muddy
water was observed at the shoreline in front of the Marine Police West Division
Base. The Contractor was reminded to provide geotextile
and sump pit until completion of u-channel at Grid 1 and 2.
·
Catchpits at TTA12 and C66 (outfall D) and u-channel at F16,
F17 and TTA 58 were blocked. The Contractor was reminded to clear the blockage
and desilt regularly.
·
Leaves
were found inside the u-channel at TTA3 and C6/C66. Stagnant water was found at
outfall EE and FF and in u-channel at F16. The Contractor was reminded to
properly maintain the drainage system.
Air Emissions
·
A
partially covered stockpile of excavated material was found at FR16. The
contractor was reminded to properly cover the stockpile.
Noise/Vibration
·
No observations and recommendations were made during
weekly site inspections in the month.
Abnormal/Emergency
·
No observations
and recommendations were made during the weekly site inspections in the month.
Miscellaneous
·
Stagnant
water was found at TTAW12. The Contractor was reminded to remove the water or
level the area.
·
Sand
was found on carriageway at TTAW12, rubbish and untidy condition was found at
F16 and FR17. The Contractor was reminded to improve housekeeping in site.
·
Stagnant
water was observed in a drip tray with an air compressor in front of the
Contractor’s site office and at FR 16 and FR 17.
·
Sand
Patches were observed at TTA12. The Contractor was reminded to remove them as
soon as possible.
·
Stagnant
water was found in chamber on pier at Grid 8 Eastbound. The Contractor was
reminded to remove the stagnant water to prevent mosquitoes breeding.
·
Stagnant
water was found at site entrance and at TTAW12 after heavy rainfall. The
Contractor was reminded to clear the stagnant water regularly.
·
The
Contractor was reminded to improve housekeeping at TTA58.
