5.1
Site inspection was carried out on a weekly basis to monitor
the timely implementation of proper environmental pollution control and
mitigation measures for the Project. In the month, four site inspections were
carried out. The summary of weekly environmental site inspections observations
and environmental site inspection checklists are attached in Appendix H
Review of Environmental Monitoring Procedures
5.2
The monitoring works conducted by the Environmental Team
were inspected regularly. Observations have been recorded for the monitoring
works as follows:
Air Quality Monitoring
·
The
monitoring team recorded the observations around the monitoring stations within
and outside of the construction site.
·
The
monitoring team recorded the temperature and general weather condition on the
monitoring day.
Noise Monitoring
·
The
monitoring team recorded the observations around the monitoring stations, which
might affect the results.
·
Major
noise sources were identified and recorded.
Advice on Waste Management Status
5.3
The actual quantities of uncontaminated sediment,
contaminated sediment, inert C&D materials and C&D wastes generated by
activities of the Project in the month are provided in Table 5.1. Trip ticket
system was implemented for all offsite waste disposal.

The status of all permits/licences obtained/in-use in the
month is summarised in Appendix I.

An updated summary of the Environmental Mitigation
Implementation Schedule (EMIS) is presented in Appendix J.
5.6
During the weekly site inspection conducted by the
Environmental Team in the month, the following observations and recommendations
were made.
Resource Management
·
No
observations and recommendations were made during the weekly site inspections
in the month.
Material Storage/Spillage/Leakage
·
Two oil drums behind the sub-contractor’s site office
were found without drip tray and oil stain was found next to the oil drums. Oil
stain was also found at the u-channel construction area near Chainage 2400. The Contractor was reminded to properly
store the chemicals and clear the oil stains.
Waste Management
·
Stockpiles of C&D waste were found at C6/C66. The
Contractor was reminded to clear the C&D waste off-site regularly.
·
Skip near Gate 2 was found full of refuse. The
Contractor was reminded to remove the refuse off-site more frequently.
Water Pollution
·
General refuse and leaves were found inside the
u-channel at C6/C66. The Contractor was reminded to clear the waste to prevent
blockage of the drainage system.
Air Emissions
·
A dump truck was observed leaving the site at Gate 2
without wheel-wash. The Contractor was reminded to provide proper wheel-wash to
vehicles leaving the site.
·
Mud trails were observed outside the site exit at Gate
2. The Contractor was advised to clear the mud trails and provide wheel-wash at
all site exits.
Noise/Vibration
·
No
observations and recommendations were made during the weekly site inspections
in the month.
Abnormal/Emergency
·
No
observations and recommendations were made during the weekly site inspections
in the month.
Miscellaneous
·
No
observations and recommendations were made during the weekly site inspections
in the month.

The Event and Action Plans for air quality and noise are
presented in Appendix K.
5.8
No exceedance of impact 1-hour and
24-hour TSP and noise monitoring was recorded in the reporting month.
