Project Title : Ma On Shan Area 108 Pumping Station

Conditions Imposed under Section 5(12) of the Ordinance

for Permission to Apply Directly for Environmental Permit

1. All mitigation measures described in the Project Profile submitted by the Applicant on 23 March 2006 shall be fully implemented.

2. The following mitigation measures shall be provided before commencement of operation of the Project to minimize the chance of emergency sewage by-pass discharging into Starfish Bay:

(i) one standby pump, one standby mechanical screen, backup main of dual power system and buffer storage for retention of 1 hour of ultimate normal flow of sewage.

(ii) retention of existing Ma On Shan Area 108 Pumping Station supported by an emergency generator as emergency backup.

(iii) a telemetry system to transmit signals showing irregularity or any operational problem of the Pumping Station to the Shatin Sewage Treatment Works for taking immediate actions.

Note :

Under section 17 of the EIA Ordinance, the Applicant may appeal to the Appeal Board against the above conditions within 30 days of the receipt of this notice of the Director’s decision
