The EIA Study has assessed the potential environmental impacts during the construction and operational phases of the TPSTW Stage V. Key issues including air quality, water quality, waste management, landfill gas hazard and noise impacts have been addressed in detail. It is concluded that with the implementation of the mitigation measures recommended in the Study, no residual impacts are envisaged. An environmental monitoring and audit programme has been developed to ascertain the effectiveness of the proposed mitigation measures. The Project will also provide environmental benefits through the provision of enhanced sewage treatment capacity and compliance with new effluent discharge standards for the Tai Po catchment area.
