Table 2.5 Summary of Project Elements
Works Programme |
Mid 2006 to Mid 2009 |
Major Elements in Pak Ngan Heung River and Ling Tsui Tau U-Channel |
(a) Open Trapezoidal Channel |
Length = 80m |
Depth = 2.5m – 3.5m |
Bed width = 8m |
Gabion walls with rip-rap bases and natural substrates. |
(b) Rectangular Channel |
Length = 100m |
Depth = 3m – 3.5m |
Rip-rap bedding and concrete vertical walls of rip-rap bedding |
(c) Diversion Box Culvert |
Length = 180m |
3 cells 3m(W) x 2m(H) |
(d) U-Channel (Ling Tsui Tau) |
Length = 200m |
750mm U-channel |
Major Elements in Luk Tei Tong By-pass Channel |
(a) Rectangular Shape |
Length = 350m |
Depth = 0.8m |
Bed width = 14m – 18m |
A minimum of 200mm high embankment will be constructed at most of the
section of the channel to avoid surface runoff from existing marsh flowing to
the proposed by-pass channel. In order to match with the downstream Luk Tei
Tong river, the height of the embankment would be gradually increased to
about 1500mm at only the non-sensitive areas. |
(b) Reprovision of crossings |
2 numbers (1 vehicular crossing and 1 pedestrian crossing) |
Major Elements in Luk Tei Tong River |
(a) Open Trapezoidal Channel |
Length = 240m |
Depth = 3m |
Bed Width = 3m |
Gabion walls with rip-rap bases and natural substrates. |
Major Elements in Tai Tei Tong |
(a) River Widening |
3 bottlenecks only |
Existing river bed will be untouched and the bank will be reinstated
by gabion blocks. |
