OUR NEW AND IMPROVED SERVICES
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has been adopting a customer-oriented approach in providing best quality services to the public and the business community. Our new and improved services for 2006 include the following:

Opened the Compliance Assistance Centre in September 2006 to provide operators with advice and information on environmental compliance.

Enhanced the web-based Strategic Environmental Assessment Knowledge Centre in 2006 with information on SEAs from 24 countries and five international organisations.
The EPD sets up a Compliance Assistance Centre at 28/F Southorn Centre, Wan Chai to provide a one-stop source of information to business and trade operators.
The SEA Knowledge Centre is an interactive web site.

Extended the Programme on Source Separation of Domestic Waste to 497 estates and buildings housing 29 per cent of the population.

Reserved $10 million in late 2006 in the Environment and Conservation Fund for promoting waste recycling and other initiatives to reduce and manage waste loads.
