Vacation Training Scheme for Post-Secondary Students 2025

[Allowance: HK$11,200 per month] 

General Requirements : Candidates should be – 

(1) permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(2) studying in full-time courses of post-secondary institutions in or outside Hong Kong and should not be studying in or have just completed their final year of study before the internship period commences; 
(3) studying in the preferred discipline/ subject of respective internship vacancy as specified in Appendix I; and
(4) fluent in both Cantonese and English; and

Duties: The job nature of or project involved in respective internship vacancy is specified in Appendix I.  At the end of the internship, the summer interns will be required to give a presentation and submit a training report. 

Terms of Appointment: Summer interns are engaged under non-civil service appointment.  The internship period is around 8 weeks from early July to late August 2025.  They are normally required to work 44 hours per week.  

Fringe Benefits: Summer interns are eligible for rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), general holidays and sickness days, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.  They are subject to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance. 

How to Apply: 
(1) Students studying in local post-secondary institutions should apply through their institution’s Student Affairs Office/ Career Centre.  They are advised to observe the deadline set by their institutions.  Direct applications from local students will not be considered.
(2) Students studying in non-local institutions should download the application form (Appendix II) and submit the completed form together with a copy of supporting document issued by the appropriate authority of their post-secondary institution certifying their student status (including certifying the candidate is not a final year student or to provide his/ her expected graduation date) by email to joewong@epd.gov.hk on or before the closing date for application.  All required documents should be submitted in a single file, either in PDF or MS WORD format.
(3) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.  They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by email to joewong@epd.gov.hk on or before the closing date for application.
(4) Candidates can apply for a maximum of two internship vacancies and should complete one application form for each of the intern vacancy.  They should indicate clearly the job code in the field “Title of Intern Vacancy Applied For” in the application form (Appendix II).  Those who apply for more than two intern vacancies will not be considered.  
(5) Candidates are required to provide their email addresses properly in the application forms and are responsible for checking their emails to ensure the invitation or notification are duly received.  Candidates who are invited for the selection interview/ written examination to be conducted from April to May 2025 will receive an invitation by email.  Those who are not invited for the selection interview/ written examination by late May 2025 may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
(6) Applications which are not made in the prescribed form, or incomplete, or late, or without the required supporting documents, will not be considered.

General Notes: 
(1) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(5) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing.  In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend selection interview and/ or written examination.
