Example 1: Output Sample in Burden Mode
For our first example, we created various file formats. Once you become familiar with the system, you may decide you only need one output format. For our purposes we ran all the possible output formats. You will see files with the following extensions from the data run you just completed.
1. HK_2015_2020_2030_Burden.CSV (text file)
This is the preferred output because it provides more detail and can easily be opened using MS Excel.
Hint: When opening the file with Excel (File >> Open), make sure your file type is set to “All Files.”
2. HK_2015_2020_2030_Burden.BCD.CSV (MVEI7G)
This file has a columnar output, which is used in databases and in MS Excel. Open the file in Excel, highlight column A and then select Data, and then convert the comma-delimited data using the text to columns conversion.
3. HK_2015_2020_2030_Burden.WT
This file can be viewed using any text editor. It shows vehicle population, vehicle kilometres travelled (VKT) per day, trips per day, accrual per year, and odometer by model year, technology class (non-cat, cat and diesel), and vehicle class.
