EMFAC-HK Web Based Training
Introduction
Welcome to the online training on the EMFAC-HK application by Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department (EPD). The EMFAC-HK application is a tool to help calculate emissions data from all motor vehicles, from private cars to heavy-duty goods vehicles. This application outputs data in various comparative ways, letting you monitor changes and identify current trends and thus helping you determine methods for efficient air pollutant reduction.
What You’ll Learn
After the initial overview of what pollutants are measured, this online training uses a step-by-step tutorial to demonstrate eight examples of emission data that are routinely run by EMFAC-HK. We will also review sample output files and information on editing fundamental data. In the left-hand navigation, we’ve provided a link to a glossary page that lists terms associated with emissions inventories and the EMFAC-HK application interface. If you are unfamiliar with a term, you may want to refer to this resource.
What You’ll Need
These tutorials guide users through the system components by using sound (so make sure you have speakers turned on, or headphones plugged in) and Flash movie files. Some Flash files will take a few moments to load, depending on your connection speed. If you are unsure if your browser supports Flash, please visit the following page to test your computer’s capabilities and download the Flash plug-in if necessary.
This training works at various resolutions, but for optimal viewing, we recommend setting your computer's screen resolution to 1280 x 1024. If you are a Windows user, you can do this by clicking on Start >> Control Panel >> Display >> Settings. At a lower resolution (e.g., 1024 x 768) you will need to scroll to see portions of the onscreen Flash demonstrations.
Before beginning the training, we encourage you to:
|
Read the technical requirements to make sure your desktop can run the EMFAC-HK application and meets the browser recommendation for this training.
|
|
Download the EMFAC-HK application. By downloading the model first, you will have it immediately available after watching the onscreen demonstrations.
