Introduction
Diesel commercial vehicles (DCV) meeting Euro IV emission standards or above, typically equipped with electronically controlled diesel engines and exhaust after-treatment devices, are more advanced and sophisticated than the Euro III & earlier models. These advanced electronically controlled engines call for an updated skill and knowledge in their repair and maintenance as compared with the earlier mechanically controlled engines. Improper repair and maintenance will give rise to premature failure of certain components and higher vehicle exhaust emissions (in particular nitrogen oxides) causing roadside air pollution.
Since 2015, the Environmental Protection Department has been organising technical seminars for the DCV repair trade by inviting speakers from different vehicle dealers or Tier-I component suppliers to ensure that each seminar is unique and updated to suit the trade. Apart from acquiring the latest technological information, seminar participants would receive a certificate of attendance for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) free of charge and take this opportunity to mutually exchange information with the others in the trade.
