Appendix I - Unleased Government Land

 

TREE FELLING

The authority for the felling of trees is covered by G.R.740 as amended by certain administrative arrangements. The authorities for the control of tree felling on the following groups of unleased land are:

In practice, maintenance responsibility is carried out, where required, as follows :

(a)
A&FD establishments and areas designated as Country Parks and Special areas (and Sites fo Special Scientific Interest (SS1's) within these areas).***

(b)
Roadside trees within 5 metres in the Urban Area (USD) and 30 metres in N.T. of the edge of a public road* traversing country parks, except A&FD (i) A&FD

(i) within recreation sites maintained by A&FD;

A&FD (through DLO)
DAF dies not maintain vegetation/trees on unallocated Government land. Where warranted and the responsibility does not rest with other departments or public utility companies, DLO'S may undertake trimming and other vegetation maintenance using funds from the Government Land Maintenance Vote
(f)
All areas gazetted and handed over as public pleasure grouds or bathing beaches. i.e. public parks, gardens, open spaces, recreation grounds, stadia etc.

A&FD has no statutory control over SSSI's, which are designated by D of Plan
