Paint Spraying
Paint spraying and body works of vehicles
Odour and paint mist emitted by paint spraying
-
Do not carry out paint spraying in non-industrial premises
-
Paint spraying should be conducted in paint spray booth or designated compartments in a workshop. The paint spray booth and designated compartment should be installed with air pollution control facilities including paint mist filtering facilities. The facilities should be maintained regularly
-
For small-scale vehicle repair workshops with no paint spray booth, minor paint spraying work must be carried out in compartments fitted with suitably designed facility e.g. activated carbon adsorbers and with closed doors
-
During paint spraying, the doors of paint spray booth must be closed to avoid leakage of odour and paint mist
-
Use suitably designed system such as activated carbon adsorbers to treat the air pollutants
-
Use high-volume-low-pressure spray guns to minimize overspray and paint wastage
-
Use water-based or other environmentally friendly paints
-
Do not carry out paint spraying inside domestic premises as solvents and the malodour will cause nuisance to nearby residents
-
Do not carry out paint spraying in open area and on pedestrian paths
-
Do not carry out paint spraying in workshops without air pollution control equipment
-
Do not try using water curtains to treat odour and solvents
-
Do not try putting activated carbon in water to remove odour of solvent or paint
Use organic solvent for paint stripping from vehicle
-
Properly collect used solvents
-
Treat waste solvents as chemical wastes and handle them properly
-
Do not dispose of paint and chemical wastes at will
