Mooncake Containers Recovery Programme 2004
The Mooncake Containers Recovery Programme 2004 has ended in success. The EPD appreciated the support and participation of the Programme from various individuals, organizations and general public.
It was the second year for EPD to organize such programme under the department's ongoing Partnership Programme with the restaurant trade. A total of 42,464 mooncake containers (more than 95% were metal containers) were collected from booths set up at 12 popular shopping centres and 27 Towngas outlets during the operating of the Programme, with an encouraging increase of 1.7 times over last year's figure. During the operating of the Programme, EPD's Customer Service Centre received almost 1,300 enquiries from the public, indicating their enthusiastic support for the Programme.
EPD considered that the Programme, apart from successfully appealing to the general public to recognize the importance of waste reduction and recycling, also helped to serve as a model for motivating various organizations to co-organize and participate in similar functions and activities. Working together under the Partnership Programme, we look forward to the further cooperation with trades and relevant organizations in the future.
