In Hong Kong, food waste makes up about 30% of the Municipal Solid Waste disposed of to landfills. This food waste can actually be turned into useful products by suitable treatment. The purpose of the Forum was to serve as a venue for discussing the feasibility of practicing food waste composting in Hong Kong. In this Forum, the invited experts explained the technologies in food waste composting and shared the latest food waste compost management experience with the local government officials, restaurant trade practitioners, food waste producers, food waste & compost users and green groups.
