Why ISO 14001 Certified? Answers from those who were certified

Franklin + Andrews Hong Kong has achieved ISO14001 certification, the international standard of environmental management, following an audit by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency on 4 December 2008.

 

Through gaining this award, Franklin + Andrews (F+A) believes it is the first Quantity Surveying consultancy in Hong Kong to be awarded this certification. The certification also builds on F+A's success in being the first to be certified to the quality assurance standard, ISO9001, in August 1993.

 

Jeremy Newton, managing director for Franklin + Andrews Hong Kong said, "We do not see this award as being an end in itself, or a label merely confirming a certain management capability. It is truly part of an overall strategy to confirm Franklin + Andrews as a global consultant of choice in delivering financially and environmentally sustainable projects. Our expertise in the field of whole life costing, an essential element in providing truly sustainable design, is becoming well-known and we hope this award strengthens this knowledge."

 

Measures taken to reach certification standard include raising environmental management issues with project clients, developing targets for energy use and measuring performance against these targets, implementing a staff education programme and posting ' green ' statements around the office to encourage staff to conserve resources.
