Introduction
Hing & Cheong is an Approved Contractor for Public Works registered under Waterworks and Roads & Drainage. We have undertaken numerous projects for the HKSAR Government such as construction of water service reservoirs, pumping stations, and laying of trunk mains.
In our recent projects, we have increasingly adopted construction techniques and practices that consider environmental protection and have minimal impact on the environment. The management is committed to an environmental policy of adopting environmental-friendly systems and innovative technologies in executing our works.
Reasons for Implementing ISO 14001
In order to exercise environmental protection measures in all our construction operations, the Company desires to create a corporate culture whereby relevant stakeholders including staff, subcontractors and suppliers are conscious of the impact each individual makes on the environment through his daily activities. We believe an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on the ISO 14001 requirements would allow us to establish, implement and monitor the environmental plans. Through the implementation of this ISO standard, we aim to be able to continuously train, promote, and improve our environmental performance to achieve the Company's environmental objectives. We believe this strategy will fulfill our objective in respect of corporate environmental responsibility and will benefit us in the long run through enhancement of our corporate image.
Benefits of ISO 14001 Certification
ISO 14001 helps us reduce waste, eliminate pollution at work sites and consumption of resources (materials, fuels and energy), thus lowering expenditures for waste management and natural resources. It also helps to improve environmental awareness amongst staff and increase employee involvement and communication towards environmental management. ISO 14001 is adopted as a supplementary system to enhance the corporate management system by facilitating compliance with statutory requirements with respect to environmental regulations and ordinances.
