Anderson Asphalt Limited
The Road to ISO 14001
The activities and operations of Anderson Asphalt does contribute although not greatly, to air pollution (smoke from combustion outlets, dust, etc), noise pollution, waste production and, to a smaller extent wastewater production. The asphalt production consumes resources of stone aggregates and bitumen as well as fuel and other energy. As a socially conscious company, in 1997 we started to document the concept of an Environmental Management System (although the concept sprang to mind several years before). We were certified by HKQAA in October 1999. From the initial conception to the certification stage, the idea has been fully supported by all staff (including the top management) of the company. In addition, from the establishment to the being awarded the certification of the system, the whole process has been achieved by existing without employing external consultants. In this way the cost of setting up the system has been kept to a minimum.
We are a commercial enterprise; we implement environmental management systems which are practicable, technically viable and financially feasible. We anticipate cost savings from the implementation of the system.
Some of the benefits of the system are:
- Reduction in consumption of material resources,
- Saving in fuel and energy,
- Reduction in waste production,
- Enhanced public image and
- Employee's awareness and appreciation of the system.
We are an asphalt read pavement contracting company paving your way for the improvement of a better work environment for our employees and less environmental impact to those who are part of our community.
