With the growing concerns on environmental issues and the legislation requirements, environmental protection and awareness have become a necessities in nowadays construction industry. Being a prominent leader in the construction industry, we endeavor to lead the industry and contribute toward improving the environment of Hong Kong.
Our vision in obtaining the ISO 14001 certification is driver by our top management commitment to become proactive in environmental protection and the environmental management system (EMS) is an excellent tool and stepping stone. With the setting up of the EMS, all of our sites are working toward the same objective and targets. A comprehensive monitoring and checking mechanism is in place to monitor the compliance of the relevant environmental legislation requirement and performance, thus minimizing the potential adverse legal exposure that may harm our company's image.
In addition to the monitoring and checking mechanism in place, environmental awareness training has been kick off to arouse our staff and sub-contractor's consciousness on their environmental responsibilities. The outcome is excellent.
Since our EMS is still in its early stage, tangible benefit have not been measured yet, but many intangible benefit such as staff's environmental awareness, reduced non-compliance to legislation, staff morale in prevention of pollution, and more effective use of natural resources have been notice. All of our sites are becoming environmental consciousness and alerting their effort to build and improve a better environment in Hong Kong.
Our battle has really just started, we will continue to improve, innovate, and tackle other environmental concerns and aspects. It is our endeavor goal to sustain effective use of resources and reduce construction waste. Thus this will give as a more competitive edge and become the leader in the construction industry.
