From a financial perspective, the ISO 14001 EMS has significantly reduced the liability, risks and costs associated with many of the hotel's various activities and services. This has resulted in substantial and sustained decreases in terms of operating costs and insurance premiums, mainly due to improved practices and controls on water and energy consumption, together with more effective health and safety measures. The willing involvement and active participation of all of our employees, plus better communications with our suppliers has also strengthened our overall achievement.
RATIONALE
The development and implementation of the ISO 14001 EMS within the Hotel Nikko Hong Kong has provided us with a highly valued international certificate in recognition of the hotel's strong desire and achievements in terms of improving its environmental performance. This demonstrates and confirms that the hotel has always been prepared to draw attention to its environmental commitment and to prove the success and value of the EMS for others to follow.
DRIVE
As a result of the HK Government Industry Department funded project through the Department of Building Services Engineering of the HK Polytechnic University, we are very pleased that our various experiences from developing and implementing the Environmental Management System can now be shared with the hotel industry.
