Balfour Beatty E&M Limited a member of the Gammon Group of companies, is one of the leading electrical & mechanical services providers in Hong Kong. Our expertise includes design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning for the construction, rail and power industries. We also offer a full range of building services and E&M disciplines and are committed to finding innovative solutions in a full partnering spirit working together with our customers in Hong Kong and Asia.
We currently employ one hundred and fifty experienced professional and technical engineering staff, and includes E&M engineers who are experienced in building, infrastructure and all types of construction projects. Apart from our head office support staff, which includes the management, tendering team and administrative staff, our engineers are deployed directly to various project sites. This ensures each project’s implementation is carried out in an efficient and timely manner to meet each of our customers requirements.
Safety, quality and the environment are our main drivers. We are committed to working within clearly defined procedures. We operate Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems in accordance with the requirement of ISO9001, OHSAS18001 and ISO14001.
Environmental Management – Drivers to Obtaining ISO14001
At BBE&M we strive to be an “environmentally responsible” contractor. We fully appreciate the significant impact that construction activities can have on the environment, the community and global resources. We aim, through our construction projects, to enhance the build environment, for our clients and the community at large, both now and in the future.
We regard excellence as critical to our success. Environmental Protection is part and parcel of our every daily operation and BBE&M seeks at all stages to minimize, and where possible eliminate, the environmental impacts arising from our operations. We strive for continual improvement and aim to lead the way in construction management, raising standards for the industry to follow participating in the Gammon sustainability report in 2005.

Increased Environmental Awareness
The EMS has enabled Gammon to have effective, consistent and systematic approach to environmental protection across all our business operations. Environmental training has increased environmental awareness amongst staff, workers and sub-contractors. As a result we have seen a reduction in prosecutions for breaches of environmental legislation to zero prosecutions in 2006, and improvements in public community engagement.

Improved Efficiency
Through Gammon’s annual sustainability reporting and our BBE&M internal environmental performance reporting we have gained a clearer appreciation of the amount of resources that we use. We have been able to use this information to reduced fuel and water consumption and minimize waste generation. Through engagement with registered recycling companies and supply chain collaborations we have increase the amount of waste recycled.
