18-11-2005 Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on the Preparation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Implementation Plan (HKSARIP) for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants
Stakeholder consultation is important to the preparation of the HKSARIP. We organized a stakeholder consultation workshop on November 18, 2005 on issues related to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in Hong Kong. The stakeholders attending the workshop appreciated the quality of our work that underpinned the preparation of the draft HKSARIP, and considered that the Government should focus on (a) improving the routine food surveillance programme and assessing the dietary exposure of the local population to POPs; (b) strengthening regional collaboration with the Mainland on the POPs front; and (c) facilitating capacity building by working with the local academics.
