The Fourth Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention, held in May 2009, decided to add 9 new chemicals to the Convention, including 5 industrial chemicals and 4 pesticides. The Environmental Protection Department proposed the inclusion of the above mentioned 5 non-pesticide industrial chemicals into the Hazardous Chemicals Control Ordinance (HCCO) (Cap. 595) as a follow-up action for the implementation of the Convention in Hong Kong. The amendment to the HCCO came to effect on 1 January 2015.
To facilitate a better understanding of implications to the trades of the proposed amendment of the Schedules of the HCCO (Cap. 595), the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) organised a briefing sessions on 9 Dec 2014.
