Apart from enforcement and compliance promotion, staff of the Environmental Compliance Division (ECD) also liaise and work closely with the district councils (DCs) and local communities through various channels.

Attending a Community Liaison Group Meeting with district councillors and local residents on a development project
Staff of our ECD's Regional Offices are standing members of various environment-related committees under the 18 DCs. They attend regularly DCs' committees meetings providing environmental advice and solutions to local environmental problems. They also attend, when necessary, DCs' full board meetings and other DCs' committees meetings to address local environmental issues.
Joint Site Visits
Conducting a joint site visit with district councillors to a landfill
Participating in a joint site inspection with district councillors, local residents and other government departments under the Team Clean Task Force
Joining a field visit to the Shing Mun River with the Shatin district councillors
Other than meetings, our ECD staff also conduct joint site visits with district councillors, local communities and other local area parties, such as residents, owners' committees, rural committees, village representatives, to address their concerns on environment.
Such visits not only help to resolve local environmental issues, but also provide our staff with opportunities to explain EPD's works to the parties involved and enhance our networks with district councillors and relevant stakeholders.
