Environment Bureau at Expo 2010 Shanghai China
In line with the monthly theme of Hong Kong's participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo), "Connect to Hong Kong: Green City", the Environment Bureau held an exhibition "Green Living in Hong Kong" in the Hong Kong Pavilion and organised a seminar on "Green Technologies, Challenges and Opportunities" in May 2010. The exhibition on "Green Living in Hong Kong" was held from May 1 to 22 to showcase the concept of green living through an interactive approach. Green objects and visitors' images were projected on a screen, and visitors who touched these images saw the objects transformed into environmental slogans. This simple and interesting exhibition was a popular spot attracting visitors from different walks of life and nations. On May 6, the Environment Bureau also organised a seminar on "Green Technologies, Challenges and Opportunities" attracting some 150 participants. Mr Edward Yau, the Secretary for the Environment, delivered a keynote speech on environmental trends and the economics of developing green technologies as well as the implications for the sustainable development of the PRD region. The seminar was co-organised with the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and the Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association. The Department of Housing and Urban-rural Development of Guangdong Province and the Secretariat for Transport and Public Works of Macao SAR also supported the seminar.
