The Secretary for the Environment led a Hong Kong delegation to participate in the 2008 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF)
The Secretary for the Environment (SEN), Mr Edward Yau led a Hong Kong delegation to participate in the 2008 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition held on 23-25 April 2008. Mr. Yau was received by Mr. Edmund H.W. Ho, Chief Executive of Macao SAR and visited a number of environmental infrastructures including Macao Incineration Plant, the natural gas fired power plant of Companhia de Electricidade de Macau and Macao East Asian Games Dome.
Mr. Yau delivered a speech on "The Importance of Regional Cooperation in Tackling Environmental Issues" at the forum. Representatives of EPD also made presentations to share Hong Kong's initiatives in tackling climate change, promoting cleaner production and the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme.
Environment Bureau also set up exhibition booths to display various environmental protection works in Hong Kong, in particular, Government's initiatives in promoting energy efficiency and sustainable building designs.
