Convicted pollution cases in February
A total of 97 convictions
were recorded in court in February for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Of these cases,
27 were convictions made under the Water Pollution Control
Ordinance, 23 under the Noise Control Ordinance, 22 under
the Air Pollution Control Ordinance and 25 under the Waste
Disposal Ordinance.
The fines ranged
from $400 to $70,000.
China Civil Engineering
Construction Corporation was fined $70,000 last month for
using powered mechanical equipment not in accordance with
the conditions of a construction noise permit.
