convicted pollution cases in April
A
total of 127 convictions were recorded in court in April for
breaching anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental
Protection Department.
Among
them, 29 were convictions made under the Water Pollution Control
Ordinance, 26 under the Noise Control Ordinance, 46 under
the Air Pollution Control Ordinance and 26 under the Waste
Disposal Ordinance.
The
fines ranged from $500 to $60,000.
A
man was fined $40,000 plus a jail sentence of 28 days suspended
for two years for contravening the provisions of a licence
under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
