All
comments on Lok Ma Chau Spur Line EIA will be considered
A spokesman
for the Environmental Protection Department said today (July
17) that all the comments made on the Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA) of the Sheung Shui to Lok Ma Chau Spur Line
would be taken into consideration.
"Very
careful note will be taken of all the comments made by the
public and the Advisory Council on the Environment (ACE) on
the EIA report, including those on the important ecological
heritage in Long Valley.
"All
the comments will be taken into account in consideration by
the Director of Environmental Protection (DEP) as to whether
or not an environmental permit should be issued for this project,
and if issued, what conditions should be imposed," the spokesman
said.
The ACE
today discussed the EIA report submitted by the Kowloon Canton
Railway Corporation on the Spur Line.
According
to the EIA Ordinance, the ACE may give its comments on the
EIA report to the DEP within a period of 60 days in parallel
to the 30-day public exhibition period for the EIA report.
The public
exhibition period ended on July 11 during which the public
could submit their views on the EIA report to the DEP.
The consultation
period for the ACE would be up to August 10.
