convicted pollution cases in July
A total of 149
convictions were recorded in July for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them, 58
were convictions made under the Noise Control Ordinance, 40
under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, 27 under the Water
Pollution Control Ordinance, 22 under Waste Disposal Ordinance
and two under the Dumping at Sea Ordinance.
The heaviest fine
was $60,000.
A construction
company was fined $60,000 last month for using powered mechanical
equipment without a valid construction noise permit.
