Annual
report of Environmental Protection Department published
The Environmental
Protection Department (EPD) today (September 5) published
its latest annual report to inform the community of the state
of our environment and to stimulate thinking that could turn
awareness into action against pollution.
Entitled
Environment Hong Kong 2000, the well-designed publication
is in a set of two to serve as an easy reference for members
of the public who are interested in local environmental protection
work.
A spokesman
for the EPD said: "The Main Report highlights the progress
of meeting environmental challenges since 1986 when the department
was formed.
"The
companion Resource Materials book summarises progress made
in 1999 with detailed figures, tables and charts," the spokesman
noted.
The annual
report also carries messages contributed by the Chief Executive,
Mr Tung Chee Hwa, and the Chief Secretary for Administration,
Mrs Anson Chan, as well as the foreword by the Secretary for
the Environment and Food, Mrs Lily Yam, on the commitment
of the Government to environmental protection.
The full-colour
72-page Main Report and 175-page Resource Materials are printed
on recycled paper.
The annual
report and the bilingual CD-ROM are on sale respectively at
$74 and $42 each at the Government Publications Centre, Ground
Floor, Lower Block, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway,
