Elderly
Environmental Protection Ambassadors Scheme
Some 170
Elderly Environmental Protection Ambassadors today (September
20) received graduation certificates held at a ceremony at
Pok Hong Community Hall, Sha Tin.
Jointly
organised by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD)
and the Social Welfare Department, the Elderly Environmental
Protection Ambassador Scheme is aimed at enhancing the awareness
of environmental protection among the elderly and encouraging
them to participate in activities to protect the environment.
"The
half-year training programme have equipped participants with
knowledge to protect the environment," the Community Relations
Officer of the EPD, Ms Mabel Mak, said at the Graduation Ceremony.
The training
programme held between February and July this year included
two half-day workshops, one half-day ecological tour to Lion
Nature Education Centre, and a half-day visit to the Castle
Peak Power Station and the Chinese White Dolphin Resources
Centre.
The ambassadors
have also completed environmental projects including "Conservation
Superstar" and "Report of the Environmental Protection Ambassador
Scheme".
