convicted pollution cases in September
A total of 143
convictions were recorded in September for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them, 55
were convictions made under the Air Pollution Ordinance, 45
under the Noise Control Ordinance, 28 under the Water Pollution
Control Ordinance and 15 under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.
The heaviest fine
was $115,000.
A company was fined
$115,000 last month for failing to comply with the requirements
of a noise abatement notice.
