First
Environmental Performance Report of EPD released
The Environmental
Protection Department (EPD) released its first Environmental
Performance Report today (November 30) on its homepage at
http://www.info.gov.hk/epd/.
It is
one of the policy initiatives introduced by the Chief Executive
to require all policy bureaux and government departments to
produce annual reports on their environmental performance.
The preparation
of the reports would not only provide the public access to
useful environmental information but also enhance the environmental
awareness and performance of the Government.
A spokesman
for the EPD said: "The Environmental Performance Report of
the EPD focuses on the key ways it works to protect the environment,
as well as reports on the direct environmental impact of its
day-to-day operations."
The reporting
format is set in accordance with international practices.
The report has been reviewed accordingly by an independent
verifier.
"The
preparation of the report has provided us with a chance to
review our past environmental performance and consider how
we can improve it in the future," the spokesman noted.
The public
are welcome to give feedback and comments on the Environmental
Performance Report by email to enquiry@epd.gov.hk.
