convicted pollution cases in November
A total of 128
convictions were recorded in November for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them, 34
were convictions made under the Waste Disposal Ordinance,
32 under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, 31 under the
Noise Control Ordinance and 31 under the Air Pollution Control
Ordinance.
The heaviest fine
was $100,000.
A company was fined
$100,000 last month for using powered mechanical equipment
without a valid construction noise permit.
