Green
seminar and workshops for vehicle repair trade
A seminar
and 10 series of workshops will be held to improve the environmental
performance of the vehicle repair trade, a spokesman for the
Environmental Protection Department (EPD) said today (February
20).
"They
form part of a partnership programme organised between the
EPD and the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association
to promote environmental awareness among the trade practitioners,"
the spokesman said.
The seminar,
to be held on February 23, aims to enhance practitioners'
understanding of the requirements of environmental laws and
to introduce proper techniques for the trade to prevent pollution.
Organised
by the EPD, the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association
and the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), the seminar
will start at 7.15 pm at the HKPC Building in Kowloon Tong.
As for
the workshops, each of them will be divided into three 2.5-hour
sessions in the evening featuring different green spraying
techniques, pollution controlling measures and handling of
paint waste.
To be
held between February and May, the workshops are organised
by the EPD, the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association,
the HKPC and the Vocational Training Council (VTC) at the
VTC Automobile Industry Training Centre in Kwai Chung. The
first one will start on February 26.
The trade
practitioners who are interested in joining the seminar and
the workshops can contact Ms Lai of the HKPC's Environmental
Management Division at 2788 5630 for details.
