convicted pollution cases in February
A total of 110
convictions were recorded in February for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them, 38
were convictions made under the Waste Disposal Ordinance,
30 under the Noise Control Ordinance, 23 under the Air Pollution
Control Ordinance and 19 under the Water Pollution Control
Ordinance.
A man was sentenced
to 80 hours of community service for depositing waste unlawfully.
The heaviest fine
in February was $50,000.
