Environmental
Protection Department publishes annual report
The Environmental
Protection Department (EPD) published its latest annual report
today (June 5, the World Environment Day) to inform the community
of the state of the environment and enhance readers' awareness
of environmental protection.
Entitled
Environment Hong Kong 2001, the annual report reviews the
progress of environmental protection in Hong Kong in 2000
and looks ahead at the priority tasks for coming years.
A spokesman
for the EPD said: "The annual report highlights the partnership
and collaboration achieved by the EPD locally, regionally
and internationally to tackle localised and transboundary
pollution problems.
"It also
covers the significant international environmental conferences
held in Hong Kong last year including the International Symposium
and Exhibition on Waste Management in Asian Cities, the 20th
Annual Meeting of the International Association for Impact
Assessment and the Basel Convention Regional Training Seminar."
The full-colour
132-page report is printed on recycled paper. The long version
of the report with more reference materials is available at
the EPD website at http://www.info.gov.hk/epd/ and in the
form of CD-ROM.
The annual
report, available in both Chinese and English, is now on sale
at $50 per copy at the Government Publications Centre, Ground
Floor, Lower Block, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway,
