convicted pollution cases in June
A total
of 78 convictions were recorded in June for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among
them, 24 were convictions made under the Air Pollution Control
Ordinance, 22 under the Noise Control Ordinance, 19 under
the Water Pollution Control Ordinance and 13 under the Waste
Disposal Ordinance.
The heaviest
fine in June was $100,000.
A company
was fined $100,000 for using powered mechanical equipment
without a valid construction noise permit.
