Road
shows on waste reduction kick off
The Environmental
Protection Department (EPD) will stage a series of road shows
on coming Sundays to enhance public awareness of waste reduction,
separation and recycling.
Being
part of the Government's efforts to promote waste reduction,
the shows will start this Sunday (September 2) at the Grand
Century Place in Mong Kok.
"Through
displays, talks, game booths, video shows, workshops and quiz
games, visitors will know more about the present situation
and the problems of waste management in Hong Kong," a spokesman
for the EPD said.
"They
are urged to participate in reducing the amount of waste generated
every day in order to help alleviate the waste arising problem.
"Recycled
products will be displayed at the venue to illustrate that
many useful products could be made from recyclables.
"In addition,
visitors will have a better understanding of waste management
and waste reduction matters by participating in quiz games
and workshops."
Experts
on environmental protection will be invited to share their
experiences on waste reduction with the public, he noted.
The road
show will be open from 1 pm to 5 pm this Sunday (September
2) on Level One, Galaxy Atrium of Grand Century Place. It
will then move to East Point City in Tseung Kwan O, Kowloon
City Plaza in Kowloon City, Times Square in Causeway Bay and
Tuen Mun Town Plaza on September 9, 16, 23 and 30 respectively.
Admission is free.
