invites tenders for operating Ngau Tam Mei Composting Plant
The Environmental
Protection Department (EPD) is inviting companies with the relevant
experience and expertise to bid for a contract to operate an organic
waste composting plant at Ngau Tam Mei in Yuen Long.
A spokesman
for the EPD said: "The successful tenderer can develop and self-finance
his own composting business at the site leased to him at a very
low cost for a 12-year contract period.
"This is part
of a programme to promote waste recycling by providing low cost
land."
Details were
published in the Government Gazette today (June 14).
"The area of
the Ngau Tam Mei Composting Plant is about 7 400 square metres.
"According to
the contract, at least 60 per cent of the organic waste treated
at the plant should be food waste," the spokesman noted.
Tender documentations
are available at the Special Waste Facilities Group of the EPD on
the third floor, West Wing, 88 Victoria Road, Kennedy Town. Enquiries
can be made at 2872 1621.
Interested companies
should submit their tenders by 12 noon on September 19 2002.
