convicted pollution cases in August
A total of 64
convictions were recorded in August for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them,
27 were convictions made under the Noise Control Ordinance, 20 under
the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, nine made under the Water Pollution
Control Ordinance, seven under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and
one under the Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance.
The heaviest
fine in August was $60,000.
A company was
fined 60,000 for using powered mechanical equipment without a valid
construction noise permit.
