Statistics in October
A total of 49
convictions were recorded in October for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them, 18 were convictions
made under the Noise Control Ordinance, 15 under the Air Pollution
Control Ordinance, eight under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and
eight under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in October was $100,000.
A company was fined $100,000 for using powered mechanical equipment
not in accordance with the conditions of a construction noise permit.
