convicted pollution cases in November
A total of 58
convictions were recorded in November for breaching anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them,
19 were convictions made under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance,
15 under the Noise Control Ordinance, 14 under the Waste Disposal
Ordinance and 10 under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest
fine in November was $100,000.
A company was
fined $100,000 for using powered mechanical equipment without a
valid construction noise permit.
