pollution convictions recorded in October
Seventy-six convictions
were recorded in October for breach of anti-pollution
legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection
Department.
Among them, 46 were convictions made under the
Air Pollution Control Ordinance, 17 under the
Noise Control Ordinance, eight under the Waste
Disposal Ordinance and five under the Water Pollution
Control Ordinance.
One company was hit with two fines of $35,000
- the heaviest fine for October - for using powered
mechanical equipment and for carrying out prescribed
construction works in breach of the conditions
of a construction noise permit.
