48 pollution convictions in May
Forty-eight convictions were recorded last month (May) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Thirty of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, nine under the Noise Control Ordinance, five under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance and four under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in May was $50,000.
Two companies were fined $50,000 each for contravening the provisions of a licence.
